“Not a Quick Easy Read” is a book compiled from the material of 23 students. The material was created during a three-day stayover at the Andreas Züst Library in Appenzell during a study trip. In the end 230 images out of 230 books were collected. On the other hand, we had a conversation with an English-speaking person about books and reading. In my publication the text and picture elements are based on five rows which serve as “shelves” on the image pages. These so-called “shelves” are modelled after the signature system of the Andreas Züst Library. This gets explained in the back of the book and is visually illustrated. With this realisation I wanted to portray the library in my own kind of way.
«Not a Quick Easy Read» ist ein Buch, welches aus dem Material von 23 Studierenden zusammengestellt wurde. Das Material ist während eines dreitägigen Aufenthaltes in der Andreas Züst Bibliothek in Appenzell anlässlich unserer Studienreise 2021 entstanden. Schlussendlich kamen 230 Illustrationen und Bilder aus 230 Büchern zusammen. Nebenbei führten wir eine Konversation mit einer englischsprechenden Person über Bücher und das Lesen. In meiner Publikation orientieren sich die Text-und Bildelemente an fünf Zeilen, welche auf den Bildseiten als «Regale» dienen. Die sogenannten «Regale» sind dem Signaturen-System der Andreas Züst Bibliothek nachempfunden. Dieses wird im hinteren Teil des Buches erklärt und visuell dargestellt. Abwechselnd mit den Bildseiten kommen die Dialoge vor. Mit dieser Umsetzung wollte ich die Bibliothek im Alpenhof auf eigene Weise in meiner Publikation portraitieren.
